The GOP Antagonism campaign to Virtual Gambling.

Posted September 30, 2008 – 10:40 am in: Online Gambling

As the United States Presidential candidates nears their respective conventions, GOP members have once again vowed to champion their opposition of virtual gambling into their Party’s 2008 platform.  If truth be told, since the year 2000, when George Bush Senior was elected as the Commander-In-Chief, virtual gambling has been attached to the GOP Party’s platform in every Presidential election since.

I mean hey, forget about how we’re already draining away billions of dollars of the American taxpayer’s money on the war on terrorism, corporate bailouts, and a healthcare system in shumbles…I can deal with that – Can I really!!!.  But to candidly show favoritism against an industry that generates $16 billion annually and then act as if you’re doing something to clean America of some wicked social toxin is just INCREDIBLE to me.  It’s not like we couldn’t just control the industry, get the federal hands to take a piece of the cake, and then use that cash to fund more government plans, whether healthcare or similar.

My only assumption is that the term We The People apparently doesn’t apply to us ‘the American people’ who have a real love for online poker and gambling in general.  Well, at least in a lot of Republican’s eyes it seems that way.  The PPA is lobbying to stage a spirited fight this year, and a flurry of write-in responses can be seen on the GOP website demanding that America. make a stand against the ban of virtual betting and gambling.
