Posted September 12, 2008 – 11:54 am in: Online Gambling

Research sponsored by the Harvard Medical School on virtual sports betting, continue to reveal interesting and vital statistics in online gambling demographics and trends.

The most recent results from the 500-person study seem to favor women as displaying effectual gambling behavior as opposed to their male counterparts, reveals one MIT based author and his research team that conducted the survey, the study results which were published by Springer Axel of Germany in the beginning of the year was also featured in Bloomberg news.

The research shows that women bet on higher stakes with more intensity as opposed to men, this is made evident by the fact that women can risk the average of $25.00 per bet and 20% more than men in a defined timeframe. Men who made up 95 % of the research sample only wagered in the average of $15.00 in a single bet. The study data was obtained from Interactive Entertainment AG, a renowned Austrian virtual bookmaker.

The research conclusions are based on twelve months of gaming pattern as observed directly from the gamblers 2006 records. The greatest percentage of the research bettors were 60% unlikely to loose than smaller participants, as reported by the 17-page report titled “Evaluating the Playing Field” Probable Longitudinal Study of the Virtual Sports Gaming.

Loses of gamers who placed bigger bets were significantly lower than gamers who placed smaller bets - the reason quoted for this phenomena being that the former’ high risk behavior doesn’t restrain their play. This revelation could be a surprise to the male gamblers and maybe a motivation too.
